If you watch the original The Mummy films from 1999 & 2001, you'll notice that Anck Su Namun never loved Imhotep. She was king Seti the 1st's mistress and towards the end when Imhotep is about to be pulled into the underworld, he asks her to help him up but she runs away and falls to her death in a pool of scarabs.
