An advice being or bad depends on your goals, the religious people have an specific set of goals so they give you an advice that assumes those goals for you, like having a faminily and a community and so on.
But obviously those are not your goals so no need to felt guilty.

When I think of people and their advice. I always remember Al Pacino playing the devil in that movie years ago called "Devils Advocate". He tells Keanu Reeves...There is no vice like advice. That line has saved me from much bull shit and manipulation.

Of course. Religion can influence but doesn’t rid anyone of bad or horrible judgment , decision making, feelings , lack of common sense and emotions

EVERY religious person has given bad advice. What sin? Screw them! Its YOUR life, not theirs. Do you lecture them on their lifestyles? Why do they get the privilege of lecturing you on yours???

So good and bad stems from ethics. I would say religion, but they have demonstrated that they are only really in it for control.

Don't let anyone or anything other than you decide your ethics. I have never made good decisions with someone else pointing at what should be good. I either hated what I was doing or hated who I was doing it with. Let your compass needle point you. If it starts to feel or go bad, get out. If you can.

I don't anymore. In the years shortly following my divorce, my father and some aunts were encouraging me to try and find a "nice church girl" and effectively get back on the plantation. I ended up getting roped and drained by a mother-daughter pair of con-artists, and since then they don't bring it up anymore. I've been free for almost 4 years now, and I'll be damned if I ever put my domestic situation in another persons hands again.

Parents are abit like this, mother outright called me a jerk for ditching my last relationship when it was causing me grief (which i just find amusing).
