To the brothers, fathers, uncles and sons who would otherwise not hear this today and are often treated like an afterthought or made to feel like nothing but an NPC in someone else’s story; because 74% of suicides are men, 85% of the homeless are men, 70% of homicide victims are men, half of domestic violence victims are men, because men are 3.4x more likely to be imprisoned and serve 64% longer prison sentences (and this is compounded if you are non-white too): Happy International Mens Day. Remember that only you are responsible for your own happiness and that happiness isn’t found in a location or a destination. The grass is not always greener on the other side. You won’t find happiness and purpose in a new city, a new job, or a relationship until you find out how to be happy with who you are, right now. Momentary joy/pleasure/gratification and happiness/internal peace are not the same things. You do not need a wife, children, or a white picket fence to be fulfilled. Find your OWN purpose in life.
