Just read this news article (probably the second in over 8 years because the media simply does not care) about a man who was continuously beaten, choked by his wife, threatened by her claiming she would call the cops if he leaves or goes through a divorce (the article/interview is in Hebrew so I'll try to translate it.)

Weren't there warning signs?

Dvir(fake name): of course there were, it started with the way she was talking, the humiliations in front of the family, I really wanted to marry, I was 30 so i convinced myself everything is going to be alright, I ignored the signs. At one point I started worrying and was thinking of delaying the wedding but she gave me an ultimatum saying either we marry or the wedding is completely cancelled, I gave up and went ahead with the wedding. What happened after? Dvir: I saw everything as it was and soon after she started showing signs of violence and started breaking things in the house.

Why?

Dvir: she has always been unpredictable. If I didn't do as she pleased she would start threatening me, if the threats did nothing, she would break things, if that didn't help? She'd throw a table at me, scratch me, choke me, spit at me, she once moved a knife along my throat.

If Dvir thought that was terrible, it only got worse when their first son was born

Dvir: one time she threw objects at me and immediately called the police claiming I attacked her. Dvir's case was closed after 14 days but in the process was kicked out of the house for a short time because his wife asked him to come back and to reconsile, Dvir agreed on the condition they go to marriage counseling. After months his wife decided that the counseling was not for her and went back to being abusive to Dvir. Dvir finally decided to go through with the divorce proceedings. After one month of the counseling she was pregnant again with their second child mind you. Because Dvir and his wife were expecting another child, Dvir decided to stay with his wife, during that time Dvir got closer to religion and hoped and prayed every day for the nightmare to end. Btw during all that time Dvir was the only one putting the bread on the table (working). Dvir's wife would go to hang out and after she'll come back she'd tease him and tell him she cheated on him

What did you do?

Dvir: I went to the Rabbi's (priests but Jewish) and in one point the rabbi told me to record her and that's what I did every day, I have over 100 hours of recordings. A month after Dvir started with the divorce proceedings his wife sent a claim to the police that he was abusing her, when Dvir was under arrest he brought his lawyer who managed to close the case due to not enough evidence. The lawyer sent a claim to the police in the name of Dvir of abuse from his wife while showing countless evidence (the recordings) To this day Dvir still can't see his children, the social worker sent to investigate sided with the wife because she was biased and there has been a new investigation against the wife. The case is still ongoing and honestly reading that article/interview made me really sad for Dvir, the guy just wanted to settle down and live his life, he fell into a trap made by him. Learn from Dvir's mistakes guys, don't dismiss warning signs, EVER!!!

No tldr because I spent 15 minutes typing this on my phone, I'm too tired of translating and typing...
