TLDR; men don't report domestic violence as much as women, thus leading to a higher domestic violence rate in the lesbian community

I have heard that the lesbian domestic violence rate is the highest of all relationships (not sure how true that is, some articles say yes others say no)

If this is true, my hypothesis is that the reason this is the case is not because lesbians are naturaly more violent than other people, that would be absurd; rather women are more likely to report domestic abuse, and are more likely to be believed.

I would wager a guess that more women are abusive than the stats show, it is just underreported in straight relationships. With lesbian relationships, this would show through since both partners could potentially report.

One fault in my thinking could be that lesbian relationships are less common than straight relationships, thus skewing their domestic violence percentage (although I've done some thinking and I'm not sure this is how percentages work. I took stats but was not very good at it)

Another reason could be that women view men as too strong to abuse so lesbians have an easier time abusing their girlfriends than straight women do abusing their boyfriends.

The American Progress article claims that LGBTQ+ people are more reluctant to file domestic violence reports. If this is true, this would defeat my whole argument.

Others could be that men DO report domestic violence and ARE believed, or that the domestic violence rate is NOT higher in lesbian relationships; these would defeat my whole argument.
