So my kids mom and I have been split for over 2 years now. We agreed to child support according to the federal tables, in addition to expenses like daycare and activities. We didnt go to court and just made an agreement on paper. We share 50/50 but our incomes differ. I've always had an issue with paying her child support, I find it difficult to pay bills and not go into negative every month. But I'm trying to do the right thing and not be a total scab.

The way it's worked is that I would deposit money into a joint account which she would then redistribute to pay her bills etc. Well I noticed the account went into over draft and so I looked into it and she has been spending 400 to 500 a month on ordering weed online. That's over 50% of my child support payments.

For reference she also lives with a common law partner and his kids. Quit her job in november and was living off presumably him and my child support.

So I've brought up with her about our kids standard of living being equal, her support from her partner and the fact she has enough money to spend on that much weed every month in an effort to reduce my payments to her. Well of course she declined. In fact she has booked an appointment with a mediator to make the child support official and court ordered now.

Does anyone have any experience in a type of recourse for this situation? I'd like to persue a reduction via a lawyer if mediation fails. I just want what's best for our kid and not to be used to supply someone's habit.
