False rape cases are much worse in India because of the following reasons.

1) No medical test is required to determine whether there was a sexual assault.

2) A girl can falsely accuse of rape by citing that you promised her marriage and now you are not keeping the promise.

3) In case of adultery, the woman is always given the clean chit ( by law). Even if she was the initiater.

4) A girls background is not considered when she accuse you of rape. A prostitute can accuse you of rape over few hundred rupees ( say 10 dollars)

Number 2) is the most common form of rape accusation in India.

The social stigma attached to rape makes it worse for both men and women. Hence the suicide in this case.
