I've stopped doing that also. It pains me because I'm a member of an order who lives on ceremony and little tings like this were a sign of being a good man raised properly. Now I feel like bitch you want equality you got it! You can do anything as good as a man...guess what that includes standing!

Men aren't as financially viable to date...because you're taking their jobs and still expect us to make more and do everything... literally go fuck yourselves

Between two regular people, without other considerations (pregnancy, disability, injury, old age, etc), the only deciding factor ought to be who was there first. I'd probably offer up my seat to someone who would obviously be in more distress by standing than I would be, but that's just polite, and ought to be (as much as possible) gender-neutral. For example, if I'm generally easily capably of standing, and a pregnant chick and a guy on crutches in a cast were both without a seat, were I to offer mine, it would be to the guy on crutches. Not because of anyone's gender, but because he's the worst off out of the three of us.

Is this really a thing though? Where I'm at there is absolutely no expectation that a man should give up their seat to a woman. Honestly, I would never even try to offer my seat to an able bodied woman because rightly so they would look at it as an insult.

This is not even a thing. I've never seen someone give up their seat purely because it was a woman standing there. I've seen it being done for pregnant women, old people. But never just for being a woman.
