So in my opinion it's the same process that leads to boys on xbox talking about their sexual conquests that leads to girls on twitter talking about their sexual victimization.

Normal healthy children have 'sexual aspirations' they expect to become adults, like other adults, and do the things that adults do.

A typical 13 year old boy will tell fantasy stories about his sex life that are just sexual stories he has heard but with the cast changed to include himself and people he knows.

A typical 13 year old girl will tell rape stories the same way. She will tell stories she has heard but with the cast changed, so that she can 'try on' what she imagines will be her role as an adult.

That's perfectly normal, millions of men are in prison because of such stories. Occasionally you'll see someone come clean, admit the whole thing was a lie, after the man has spent decades in a cage, he usually comes out all forgiveness, no hard feelings.

So that's typical kid behavior, tell stories about the things you expect to do as an adult, but tell them as if they were true and had already happened.

Why do so many adults today act like children? Why is is so common now to see 20 or 30 of 40 year old people, men and women, who still feel the need to model such aspirational fantasy?

Keen insights.

I think something pretty similar. To my mind, being significant is a human need. So people will pursue this in a bunch of different ways; pea-cocking and faux-martyrdom both come to mind.

The real concern is that our society has let so much of it's cultural foundation collapse, that folks lack the integrity to not cross these lines. And that the rest of us don't hold them to account when they get caught (mercy in the end, but a bit of a call out is appropriate).

The schools are a real issue; largely because the best education most people have had a real shot at getting is through their parents, family, and attempts at achieving objectives in the real world. Instead of spending a day with grandad on the farm, they're piled into a room with a stranger who has to get paid to grade their papers; and poorly. It's a disgrace.
