I follow this incredible instagram account, "@thetinmen", and when I have the courage I post their most recent post on my story. After I started doing this around 4 months ago I noticed a lot of unfollows (I happen to not really care). My reasoning is that, well, if everyone's gonna bring up feminist issues, surely I can bring up my own, right?, and after about a couple weeks of doing this occasionally, I got a reply from a girl (that I'm barely friends with) writing like full fucking paragraphs mostly agreeing with me but also saying that some of it is bullshit. The things she agreed with was just the basic inter-human respect type shit, but the stuff she disagreed with was how men actually are incapable of being scared walking at night and other stupid bullshit. I responded with around 1-3 sentences going something like this, I respect your point of view, and I don't consider myself an MRA or a feminist, I'm just an egalitarian standing up for what I think is right, and she went on with a whole paragraph about how stupid MRA's are and how only some feminists are bad. I was kinda in awe but I don't have very high standards when it comes to white, upper middle class teen girls at my school.

Another incident related to me posting posts on my story from "@thetinmen" was when my mom confronted me about me leaving the toilet seat up. She was just telling me that it's annoying that I leave the seat up and of course I agreed and said I'd try harder to not to. Easy peasy interaction, besides the fact that my mom thought that me leaving the seat up was an act of rebellion against feminists or some shit. Like, I love my mom and my sister and I have no preconceived notions about women or anyone for that matter; me leaving the toilet seat isn't an act of rebellion against femtards. She said that she thought this might be the case because I've been posting occasionally those posts on my story. I said something like, No, of course I'm not doing that for that reason I just honestly forget to set the toilet seat down. Also those things are real things, its not all fake, those are real problems, and she doesn't really respond to that but I could tell that she thought I was the bad guy or something.

I live in a really liberal area, and while I consider myself left-leaning, I also grew up with my dad who was a State Trooper. I haven't had many male role models in my life. I've had my dad and my grandpa and occasionally my dads' Trooper buddies. That's it. The rest of my life I've spent with my mom, my grandma, my sister, my moms' friends, their daughters... So I'm no fucking womanizer, and to see my mom respond like that kind of hurt, like my concerns for boys and men were wrong or irrelevant. I've been blind to the suppression society puts on males my entire life and after doing research into the whole MRA and Red-Pill world, I've been awoken to it. When I post those stories its not like I'm trying to shove it down everyone who follows me's throats, its just a, Hey, look at this, this is a problem, maybe read it?, and that's it. I want to make some sort of difference, some sort of microscopic dent in these problems by shedding light on them to my small friend group. In an age where quite possibly where misandry is at it's height and its actually being promoted I want to stand up in some way. I know posting measly fucking instagram stories in the long run aren't doing jack shit, but I want to do what I can, not just because the statistics are scary (something feminists don't really have), but because I have first hand experienced a lot of these problems. I've experienced them in the workplace, at school, as a child... I've been blind to it, blinded by silly ideas of what it means to be a gentlemen, or that a man is submissive to women in some ways, but now I' m not falling for that shit.

TLDR: People get mad when I post "@thetinmen" posts on my story.
