The phrase toxic masculinity should not be taken to mean all masculinity is toxic. It is a go-to reference for a culmination of behaviors that are harmful, those which are a subset of all the qualities that define masculinity— though let’s agree that the phrase in itself has a negative connotation that can easily be interpreted to mean all masculinity is toxic.
Are there any people in r/MensRights who believe that there are certain encouraged masculine behaviors that are detrimental? What are they, if they exist?
——————————————————————— Before you respond, let me make you aware of my experience on this channel in the past couple of days.
The first response is usually — how about toxic femininity?
Let’s agree that “toxicity” exists in both gender roles and expectations, and that “toxic masculinity” is almost always the point of discussion in gender rights. Why should this stop you from answering the question and having a meaningful discussion?
Any time I’ve attempted to have discussions as these with users, I am met with responses like “feminine qualities in men are evolutionarily disadvantageous, , . Unvirtuous... fucking weird... detrimental ...” It made me wonder how common these sentiments were.
If you want to be intellectually honest, please answer the question that’s being asked. ——————————————————————

Acknowledges, but doesn't fix. You telling us you're about to do something wrong doesn't mean you didn't just do something wrong.
Might. But you didn't. You ran with a term you'd already acknowledged would invite trouble. If your aunt had balls, she'd be your uncle. But she doesn't.
