WHY DOES "PINKWASHING" WORK?

Over the past month, as I have been reading the usual controversy over GayPride, I have wondered about a few "whys." Why do civil rights bring so many people together and mobilize them, while on the most pressing economic issues apathy and discord reign? Why did power choose the LGBT world in particular as a weapon of mass distraction?

And I gave myself an answer: because this is compatible with the systemic reproduction of capitalism. The fight against bullying, violence and marginalization of the different is a legitimate and necessary part of civilization, but it does not necessarily require subverting the existing relations of production; rather, it is inscribed in the paradigm of bourgeois emancipation, which removes external obstacles to freedom and protects the safety of the individual from aggression.

What's more, in the 21st century, civil rights tend to move out of the old framework of "Liberty, Equality, Property and Bentham," are reduced to a cultural normalization of minorities constructing their own identity and demanding its recognition. And because everyone is free to be as they feel, there are as many genders in the world in nuce as there are individuals, if not more, and the material for distracting public opinion with "culture wars" is endless.

The only "sexual minority" demonized by the media - the incels - is also the one who does not claim a self-referential identity but rather denounces the impossibility of satisfying their own needs, raising the question of positive freedom that shakes the foundations of capitalism, because it shows that the denial of de facto freedom for the weakest rests precisely on the indefinite extension of formal freedom that allows the privileged to "enhance assets."
