I remember growing up in a household where my dad worked long hours just so me my mum could eat, I never got to see him much as a baby and growing up I kind of resented that but I realised he did it for me, he did it so I could go to school and have lunch everyday, and so my mum could stay at home and look after me and my younger sister. He didn't do it cos he wanted to, he did it cause he loved us.

I remember when my parents almost got a divorce, I remember thinking if they did I want to live with my dad, but looking back the courts would not have cared, they would have just stuck me with my mum without even considering what me and my dad would want.

I remember sitting down and realising the support I got after leaving my abusive relationship, this would be totally different and almost non existent if a man was to escape an abusive relationship, I bet you that they would be laughed at, told they are not a "real" man for just leaving or fighting back, even though if a man wants to fight back he'd be the one sitting in that jail cell.

We need men's rights because men still don't have rights to their own body, men still don't have rights when it comes to the courts during divorces and custody battles, and in some countries they are forced to go to war they don't even want to fight. All just because they are a male.

The fact that there is a hashtag that is circulating around the internet that is telling young boys that they will grow into trash, and telling men that they are trash when they have done nothing wrong is sickening.

The fact that domestic violence shelters favour woman even though it's pretty much equal in the stats of male and female abuse. this is also the same  around suicide hotlines and how they seem to not help men.

How is it that people think its acceptable to treat men this way?
