Red pill parenting

I remember reading a thread on reddit a couple of months back about how complimenting/congratulating/rewarding a child's efforts help improve confidence and self-esteem, where complimenting/congratulating/rewarding them for their qualities leads to laziness and insecurity. I can't find it though.

Basically, things like "you're so smart/cute" are bad, but things like "wow, did you do that all by yourself?" and "I'm impressed, you did a great job" are good.

Show interest in what they are interested in. Keep tabs on who their friends are, who their favourite teachers are, what their favourite sports/activities/hobbies are.

Don't expect them to be good at things that you were good at, or things you wished you were good at, or expect them to follow in your footsteps.

In fact, don't put any expectations on them.

Learn the difference between "discipline" and "punishment" (pro tip: watch a lot of The Dog Whisperer).

Be dependable.

Don't ever express disappointment in them. We all make mistakes.

If you are undermining your child's confidence, you're not doing a very good job at raising a human being.

Teach them through leadership, and (again) don't expect them to be good at or know something they have never seen you do yourself.

Just show love. Make them the reason you wake up every day, but never hold that over them.

Your life isn't about you anymore, it is totally and completely about raising a child to be self-sufficient.

Think "iron fist, velvet glove". Be unwavering, and make sure you and your wife are always on the same page. If you're not, you need to conference with her while avoiding arguing in front of your kids(s).
