The numbers are likely inflated by a shitload of "shadowbanned" accounts.

After the latest #gamergate thing, I am expecting arr/gaming to have a similar discrepancy due to Shadowbans being handed out like candy this month.

Right, the number of subscribers to a default sub is pretty meaningless since every single account created is automatically subscribed to it.
