A very good article that summarizes my thought process whenever I read those "women choosing to be single and happy about it" articles.

Ahhh feminism. Like a fish needs a bicycle, you say? You got it!

Look upon thine works, ye stupid cunts, and despair.

I wonder if anyone else is like me. I wouldn't say I was burned out. I go out on a semi-regular basis. But I also get into moods which last a couple of weeks -2 months where I am just lazy. I don't want to bother socializing. So I don't. It comes in goes in cycles it would seem.

I don't fight these weird moods, because I really bank and save lots of money during those times.

I'm like that too. It's a decent way to live. Who wants to be "on" all the time.

I truly believe when a man comes to the decision to go his own way, the romantic/social/dating/whatever environment was so hostile it overrode his hard-wired programming to chase women.

This precisely and succinctly sums up the effect it has had on me. Ten years ago I was at this point, and was merely going to use women for sex and brief companionship. Then I met one who appeared to be different, not like the rest, and though she wasnt incredibly attractive physically, she did have the mindset I was looking for. So I gave it one more shot.

Here I am, ten years older and realizing they are all the same and it does not matter what I do, women are just wired to be fucked up and always looking for greener pastures, and ready to jump at the first thing that looks green.

I am mid 40s, my sex drive vanished for the most part when just a year ago it was robust and I was screwing at least every other day. It isnt something with my T, or anything physiological, the reason is the hard wiring in my mind changed. I am done with relationships, done with women living with me, and I honestly dont give a fuck if I ever fuck a female again. They arent worth the effort, and a fleshlight is so much cheaper if I need to drain the system.

Sure, I can easily go out and pick up some snatch, and I have a number of female friends with benefits, but I just dont give a shit anymore. It isnt stress, sadness, nor is it depression. It is just a man who has been through hell and isnt going to take it anymore. I would much rather spend my money on property, real estate, muscle cars, and my dogs than on a woman.

If I decide to chase some tail again, it will be only in an effort to enjoy some intimate naked time, and nothing beyond that, because I do enjoy fucking and the body on a beautiful woman. I simply will not support her ass to get laid.

This is so funny.

You have a victim mentality, when this article summarizes your thought process.

This guy is a loser. All he talks about is how men have the right to be a victim and women don't. Is this what you want to be? A victim? What for? So you can complain on the internet about how your life sucks? Wake up!

I will be the devils advocate here and say that right here, in this subreddit there are plenty of posts where men say "I choose to be single and happy about it" where everyone praise and agree to that persons decision.

Now, you can downvote me all you want but sometimes people here are no-different that hamstring feminists you are discussing. I think that we all can agree that what that particular woman chooses to do is none of my, yours, or any other peoples business.

I would expect that most people here already are or want to get in a situation where they have enough skill to regularly get laid without yielding any commitment.

I wouldn't say that I "want" to be single. I think my most natural state is monogamy or serial monogamy, based on past relationships I have had (ended due to me moving to different locations). And I wouldn't have any problem with that arrangement if society functioned properly to incentivise commitment and disincentivise abandonment by females.

But society doesn't function right, and there is nothing I can do about it. I have no power to change this situation. I can only react to what I have been presented. I view being single simply as the lesser of two evils. It is a choice that has pros and cons, and I am aware of the cons. I choose it knowing that it isn't perfect, not because I have illusions about it being the best way things could be.

If the woman (Kate Bolick) writes an autobiographical article about her decision, we can certainly make it our business to discuss. That is the whole point of her writing the article. She wants people to discuss it.

And I think you missed Captain Capitalism's point. Men are choosing to go their own way, while Ms. Bolick and others like her are falling into it. The paths for men and women to go their own way are different, and that is why we praise a man choosing to do so and not praise a woman for being there by default. Also, the woman would not go her own way if she could.

I don't think any man is single and happy about it.

Any man would be happier with a good woman than being single.

However, the caveat here is good woman. They're about as rare as a needle in a haystack.

I don't think it's about making a happy decision, it's about making a right decision.
