I know "look at this post I found on twox" posts are shunned here, but I engaged in a conversation with one of the members and wanted to share what I had gathered.

The original post talks about a woman who was terribly upset about being harassed for having a full body, nice ass, etc. I pretended to sympathize with her (because we all know what was really going on) but wanted to see if anyone would agree to my appeal to logic (voice your opinion, say NO, tell the guy to Fuck off, etc).

One user then proceeded to tell me that its too dangerous, that women are beaten and killed for saying no and that it shouldn't be up to the victim to change the perpetrators. And even if they aren't killed, they would be ridiculed.

It wasn't any surprise to me, but I wanted to see how far she would hamster. I told her that she was overreacting (saying no to someone isn't going to get you killed, especially in a public bar) and that if the people advocating women's right to vote were afraid of being ridiculed, then they would have gotten nowhere.

She goes on to expand on how bad it is for women to say no, posting a link from a media hyped article about a shooting and saying this:

Really? Standing up for yourself can be deadly.

I was amazed at this statement. She honestly believed that because of this slight risk, that she shouldn't have to stand up for herself. Amazing again.

My take away from this experience is the re-iteration that women are inherently incapable of taking responsibility for their actions. They WANT to be the victim, and have all of the attention and benefits of someone who takes charge (men). Look at the civil rights movement of the 1960's, look at kids standing up to bullies in public schools, look at Ghandi's hunger strikes to end fighting. These people understand what it takes to make change. If women really wanted this change to happen, they would press through the risks and ignore the ridicule and persevere to get what they want. But the truth is they don't truly want change, they just want more for themselves. /rant.
