I don't know if a man stuck in a desperate situation of working long hours and having the realization he has zero upward mobility in life, lives in a country with a skewed female/male ratio due to China's 1 child policy, and just sees the overall hopelessness of his situation could be "saved" by game alone.

This story is disturbingly similar to the plot of the 2008 Norwegian film "Fatso".
