I think whats more pertenant is that cities have been studied and proven to essentially be lab testing grounds for humans where we become mentally ill and unstable as a result of living with so many other people in an environment where no one really knows each other.

Human beings are best suited to living in small tribes of around 1000 people. When you have sprawling cities no one really gives a fuck about anyone else beyond what you can do for them.

I remember some quote from a notable person i cannot remember but it went

"Cities are places men go to devour one another."
