The post 'I fucking hate women' got me thinking about a couple of things.

First off, I had a situation where I was friends with a girl for a long time. She showed a little interest, and I showed a little-- in fact I tried to just ignore any feelings I had so I wouldn't end up trying to get with her only to be turned down. She led me on though, saying I was everything she looked for in a guy and she even invited me over to sleep with her. (and I mean sleep. Specifically to cuddle. Soul-crushingly platonic.) Anyways, for reasons unbeknownst to logic, I kept incrementally falling for her. I was always nice. A shoulder to cry on and always available. Eventually I reached the point where I had to voice that I had feelings for her. She shot me down and wouldn't tell me why she only said, 'You wont like the answer,' as if refusing to allow for closure is something I would like. So I decided not to talk to her any more. She then made me the bad guy saying things like, ''Thanks for showing that guys and girls can't just be friends,' and 'You can't just use being nice to get sex,' which seemed retarded at the time because my standard for a girl to get sex from me was that she needed to be nice and be a good person. So that situation left me with a real bitterness and I began to see how women operated and how skewed their standards tend to be. (IMO)

The second thing this other TRP post made me think about was attitude. My current girlfriend told me about how she'd gone on a few dates but turned them down for various reasons. One of these reasons blew my mind-- she said she turned one guy down because of his attitude. HIS ATTITUDE! It had never crossed my mind to ever even call a girl's attitude into question-- and do you know why?-- because if we did, we'd never get with anyone. Girls always have such an entitled attitude, act as though they're doing you a favor just by existing near you and look at you like you're a jester when you're trying to 'court' them or show interest. It further made me realize that men and women seem so far divorced from eachothers' states of mind. We're so different, and have lots of bitterness and distrust, even contempt for the other, that it really does seem pointless to engage eachother sometimes.

My current relationship is going great, but in the back of your mind you still know how women are. How they change, how they challenge, how they are so susceptible to stagnation and outside excitement. They tend to frown upon the cynicism they instill in the men around them, even after having been the genesis of that cynicism. I guess this is just thinking about loud and a little reflection. Am I making any sense? Can anyone relate?
