So many guys seem hung up on being alpha—and never ever being perceived as acting beta. In fact, they've turned acting beta into an insult. "That's so beta" gets flung all over the place. And as to saying to someone, "That is so omega"? Well, calling his mother a two-bit hooker is less of a put-down that calling someone that.

Which as far as I'm concerned is stupid. The point of it all shouldn't be "being alpha", and avoiding being perceived as beta or omega like the plague.

The point should be getting what you want.

Recently, I've been inching towards closing a business deal. I've had to suck shit and act as beta as a boy-bander, for the sake of getting someone with weight in the process all comfy and relaxed enough so that he will sign on the line which is dotted.

From the outside, I've had to be all beta around the dude, in order to make him feel superior—but so what. Once this deal closes, I'll be walking away with a very tidy sum; more money than most New York mansions. And I'll never have to deal with this asshole again.

When dealing with women, most guys here despise betas not because they're weak, but because they don't get laid. If being beta consistently got you laid, then we'd all be beta twerps—happily so.

But it doesn't. Acting alpha does. So we proceed to either be alpha, or at least fake it enough to pass the trim test.

If acting alpha gets you what you want, great. If acting omega gets you what you want, that's great too. But striving to be alpha for the sake of being alpha is stupid. A particular status should never be the end in itself—it should always be the means to the end.

And the end? It's getting what you want—whether it be trim or cash.
