He was up against the full fury of the Matrix. He had 2 choices, grovel for forgiveness or refuse to grovel and leave with honor, dignity, and bank accounts intact. Never forget that he was forced out because he executed his 1st Amendment rights as a private citizen. Where he ran afoul of the law was that he did so while keeping his testicles intact. That was the real crime.
