What inspired me to write these words was another post about short men and height-related issues. As I read it, it was obvious what the problem was – a weak frame. OP was telling men that wearing shoe lifts is no different than wearing makeup. I cringed.
Men don’t need makeup. Men need to accept themselves. Men need to let go of what they can’t control. Men need to live in their own world. That’s frame.
There are only two words engraved on Bukowski’s tombstone. “Don’t Try.” He was a self-destructive alcoholic, a depressed mad man, but he knew all that, and because he knew all that, he was also one charismatic motherfucker. “Don’t try”, he wrote. Don’t try to be nice. Don’t try to be happy. Don’t try to be taller. Don’t try. Don’t chase. Don’t explain yourself. You would think of him as one unproductive person, yet he managed to write thousands of poems, hundreds of short stories and six novels – while working a 10 hour shift at the post office. To him, writing was not something you try to do, it is something that will come bursting out of you if you were born to do it.
Stop being such a fucking try-hard. Do things for their own sake. Enjoy the process. Go to the gym not because you want a better body, but because it makes you feel good. Stop trying to impress women and start worrying about what impresses you. Bend reality to your will. Bukowski thought that the answer to life was style, I think it is frame.
If you’re wearing a stupid hat, but you think it is fucking awesome – other people will think the same. It is not the hat that makes you cool, it is you who makes the hat cool.
Three years ago, I tried MDMA for the first - and last - time. It’s an experience I think everyone should have. MDMA is a wonderful drug. It teaches you how to love this life again. It shows you the potential of human happiness. It teaches you how to accept oneself. It was by far the best night of my life, a night I'll never forget. I wasn't partying, I was at home with a close friend. Words can't describe what you feel when you're peaking. Problems seem irrelevant and you make peace with yourself. You'll realize that you're not living life how it should be lived. You'll realize that you're a walking dead, no matter how much you think you're not. It's god-mode. You get the impression that people would love you if you were always like that.
If you’re a man, no matter how short you are, and you met women when on that state, they would want to fuck you. Not because you would be wearing shoe lifts, but because you didn’t care about your height. Your frame would be unbreakable. You would stop trying. The next morning, I woke up a different person. I’d been in heaven the night before and brought with me some of the most important lessons of my life.
