Back when I was a wage slave I was very conscious of it.
I knew that computer programming was a rapid way to make money (1990's) so I focused myself on making as much as I could while also investing in a house flipping situation by buying a rundown house in a nice neighborhood.
After a decade in the dot.coms the market crashed in 2000 and by late 2002 I had sold the house and walked away.
That was the last time I was "officially" a slave.
But there are many levels of mental slavery... many areas of Blue Pill thinking still existed for me until more recently.
To completely have mental Freedom is difficult.
Perfect Frame is more of an ideal than a reality.
One expects to fall short of perfection... you are only human.

I think money and drugs share a similar nature. There are highs and lows, booms and busts, etc. Many of the wealthier individuals I know have an attitude of "shit, now what do I do?"
That doesn't mean one should become a hippie - it's just that making money the sole focus of your life doesn't lead anywhere too promising.
How's it been living outside the Rat Race? I'd love to acquire that type of financial Freedom, though I'd need a plan for what to do with my time.

I like being outside the Rat Race.
Though I actually liked being in it too. There is a rush you get from the stress I think.
Money can fool you into believing the flattery it gives you.
Vanity is a sin most people have no ability to detect and it seems to drive the quest for more money beyond your real need.
Without Vanity the entire consumer based economy would collapse.
First comes physical vanity (looks)
Second comes material vanity (money)
Third comes virtue seeking vanity (political correctness)
...people tend to be vain somehow.
The Devil needs his hooks in you somewhere !!!
If people started to act with Freedom the whole system would fall apart.

Yeah, there's definitely a rush in the Rat Race. Caffeine, money, power (even if it's just in your office), and deadlines characterize many days.
You're right about vanity - it needs to be conditioned into us for this system to work. Mass consumerism is pretty ridiculous when you look at it objectively. Like a bunch of high class drug addicts or something.

Work is focusing energy to serve your master or generically the corporation.
Self improvement is using that same focus on yourself.
The busy man has no time for self improvement.
What does one do?
Busi - ness
...Busy - ness.
"Keeping busy?"
"Yep, it's my business."

Damn looks like my posts are getting deleted.

One of mine was deleted too.
Weekends tend to be bad times for the thought provoking posts.
The Jerry Springer Show posts do best on the weekends because half the people are drunk, stoned or whatever.
It's also possible there is some "upper level" crackdown.
Remember... we can wake them up a little, but not too much.
