Hello friends,

I've lurked here on multiple accounts, and I'd like to pose this question to you. It seems that most of the people here are very successful. My definition of a successful person in this post is as follows:

"A person who is able to identify problem areas in their life, reach the problem's source, and improve them in a systematic and methodical way."

I understand this topic has been touched on before, but I feel that many times we've simply skimmed over the topic instead of actually getting into the nuts and bolts of it.

I'm interested to hear about the specific ways you go about improving yourself. Please feel free to talk about any area of your life, not necessarily in regards to women.

I'll get the ball rolling with an example:

I've always had a hard time with regulating my level of involvement with different projects, both personally and professionally. So if I'm thinking about getting in shape or leading a development team through a software project, I'll either be 100% balls to the walls, or I'd pretty much be a no-show. This was problematic because it made me a pretty flaky person.

I took a step back and found the root cause of it was that I've had too much on my plate, so while I focused on some aspects of my life, I completely neglected others. I realized that to improve in terms of professional and personal commitments, I had to stop trying to make everyone happy and learn to say "no."

Whenever I start to notice that I'm being flaky again, I cut back the number of things I'm doing.

So in my case, I asked myself if the there was something else that was behind my fluctuating commitment patterns. After that, I experimented with ways to remove the cause of the problem. Once I found results, I would regularly take a pulse of my different commitments to make sure I wasn't taking on too many.

How do you go about improving yourself? Do you have a process? What is that process?

Thanks in advance,

SometimesLonely
