Irrationally overconfidence is extremely important https://heartiste.wordpress.com/2012/01/18/overconfidence-is-the-heart-of-game/

I came up a few examples from my own life:

1-. Girl displays signs that may or may not be interest

Beta shrugs it off as not being interest

Overconfident man assumes it's interest and makes a move, which makes the difference

Especially important if the girl is WAY out of the guys league objectively, think back on your life on how many times this happened, and how you interpreted the event

2-. Girl throws a tantrum

Typical guy- gets upset, reacts to her tantrum, feels bad that this girl is so angry at him, tries to find out why she's angry at him, apologizes,

Overconfident man assumes she's just upset that she hasn't fucked him yet, laughs about it, challenges her and goes for the close

3-. Hot girl pushes guy out the door of the party and telling him he can leave

Under confident- assumes she dislikes him which is why she pushed him out

overconfident- assumes that she's interested because she touched him, and asks her out

4.-Underconfident- "She probably has a boyfriend" Overconfident- "She is probably single"

Note in the above 4 examples both of the explanations are plausible, however the overconfident man interprets himself in the winning position, and makes the move. Which ultimately makes the difference. In other words he always assumes he is winning

While underconfident man assumes the pessimistic outcome and never makes a move

Another example: meet a girl that is a perfect 10. logically speaking, every guy that's hit on her has been better looking/have more money, and that she is in a much higher league. Overconfident man quickly asks her out after speaking to her very briefly, which shocks her, makes her react and gets on her radar (as opposed to all the invisible guys around her).

The fact that this 10 is CONSIDERING going out with Overconfident man is giving him an advantage. And ultimately the hook up
