No disrespect Captain Cringeworthy but this advice seems very solipsistic. Sure Monk Mode and Isolation can be negative if you take it to an extreme but I am personally usually at my best in terms of focus , Accomplishing tasks , and honestly embracing what actually matters when I am focusing on me and me alone .

I actually spent the last year networking , plating , and fucking around and at the end of it I felt empty . I cut off my plates . I began focusing on work, and I began to feel like myself again .

For what it's worth I chose Isolation , it wasn't imposed on me so maybe you mean avoid unintended Isolation versus choosing Isolation?

I mean just the idea that being isolated cuts you off from your power source is very Extrovert- focused advice. Sure the more people you meet the more opportunities you may come across but I'd also argue that the quality of your contacts matters even more than the numbers. I've been to enough networking parties and traded cards with droves of nobodies , I have conversely had dinners with one power player and it was much much more valuable to me in terms of knowledge and building connections .

Poor hygiene and whatever is just a sign of someone who doesn't respect themselves. you can be that way isolated or in a room full of important people . I've heard countless stories of people with no sense of personal hygiene showing up to job interviews. That's jsut basic self-respect and human decency ( I respect this opportunity and your nose).

All things in balance right ?

This is my greatest struggle. I pretty much live my life in isolation. I justify it by citing Monk Mode because the reality is that spending time by myself, developing better habits, seems more productive than going out and continuing to fail where I have always failed: social pursuits.

Between work, being in the gym 6 days a week, and coaching my son's little league team, going out alone to rub elbows with a bunch of randos who won't remember me after that night seems like a pointless endeavor.

I especially have trouble reconciling the need for me to provide value to others' lives with the difficulty I have in seeing value in others. I feel like I have to be perfect to appeal to other people who have very little to offer me.

I wish a job would give me no work and put me in the corner. Sounds amazing. Who would quit? I'd be running a blog or amazon store from my laptop or phone and taking long ass lunches.
