I'd like to start this post off with a little fun. Did you know that people aren’t like chocolate covered candy?
People are bastard coated bastards.
If you're familiar with Scrubs, you're familiar with some of the most RP men that television has ever written. Dr. Cox, Chief of Medicine Bob Kelso, Turk, and many more. There was a scene where J.D. (our protagonist and BETA male turned ALPHA as the show progresses) tells Dr. Cox that most of his patients are elderly and pretty much on the last stages of life. He's coping with the disillusion as a young intern whose expectations are being viscerally confronted. He's in too deep. Debt. Career investment. His education and apprenticeship. Dr. Cox explains bluntly how the machine really works - there's no saving these people, and that the bulk of their job is to make them comfortable and keep the game going.
In parallel, in TRP we often like to become nostalgic and talk about how it use to be back in the good old days. How it use to be in previous generations. In another age, in another country somewhere, in a different time. I’d like to confront your reality with the fact that all that from the past has led here. Do you understand? It’s not going to work. It has led here.
Technology is the great precursor to feminism, and like old age it’s coming hard like a freight train. As a man, you’ll become weathered and seasoned by the ages and for all your beliefs and convictions you may have they will mean nothing. Nature wins. Nature always wins. Do not be stupid and arrogant. As many of the EC’s say, “Enjoy the decline.” Rightly so. Your job is to somehow make an omelet out of the broken eggs. Your job is to buy your buddy a beer when he can’t understand why his girl is acting the way she is. Why she’s saying the things she’s saying. Why she’s doing the things she’s doing. Your job is to grease the wheels for others when it suits you to do so. Your job isn’t to save anyone or bring this great TRP prophecy at their doorstep. Your job is to take your friends out hiking, camping, and kayaking to get over a bitch. Your job is too often to throw your unsuspecting friends into the cold wilderness of life, because it can teach them more than you ever could.
