If you're feeling depressed, you might as well stay home and read a book. Don't take that out on the world because the truth is the world doesn't wanna know about it unless you have a vagina. If you have to be outside, keep it low-key and distract yourself doing something.

I get what you mean. People don't care if you are sad. I don't mean you should whine and moan. But it's okay to go to work and buy groceries even though you don't feel like you should. I have a friend who is Bipolar and he can be depressed for weeks at a time. Normally he is pretty alpha but when he slips into he depression he.. basically acts like 95% of men. Which is boring, flat, and low energy. But that's okay. Life goes on and he does a good job at hiding it even if he is dead inside.

Nobody ever said don't be human. Or don't be emotional. Express EVERY emotion to the fullest. Otherwise you're just going to frustrate yourself.

Depression is one of those things where the "fake it till you make it" principle works splendidly. By cleaning your environment, eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly and interacting with a large number of people, you can force yourself out of it. It is draining and you need to go against your desire to do absolutely nothing.
That's not faking it though all of those things cultivate real confidence. When I'm doing all of those things I don't have to try to be confident and happy I just am.

Learn to be confident when you are not happy. That is your goal. Stop expecting your mood to coincide with your opportunities or need to perform. Learn to execute even in a bad mood. That is the power.

I disagree. Action counts far more than feelings. Doing the action creates the feelings. If you are really down, don't go out. But a little socially awkward? That's exactly when you want to go out. You want to learn to interact on days that you don't feel so well. I did yesterday. It was awesome.
Its okay to go out there when you are feeling bad and get shot down. The more you do it, the better you'll feel.
