I am working as software developer for international logistics company. My first real job, nothing fancy, still kinda apprentice level. The most single weakness in working and learning process is motivation , when I have no clue what should I do next in order to solve problem. I've red about positive cycle, solve easy problems first to get momentum. I love when I am in the flow, tickets solved left and right, feels really good.
But there is always that one bug ticket in queue I don't wanna touch , because I don't know how the hell I approach that thing. I spent time debugging 10 years old code , jumping around codebase from up to down, still not sure how to fix it AND not brick the overall algorithm.
After the days of evading the problem and finally cracking the puzzle, the problem looks trivial now.
Everytime there is equivalent problem, it's matter of minutes till I save ticket as Resolved.
You know where you have to start, you have general idea what to look for and how long its going to take.
You just made a full cycle.
We need closure.
Movie has credits.
Book has the last page.
In the end of following cooking recipe should be the steaming pot of Lasagna.
In the end , you have completed a mental model.
Only and after that you can start enhancing quality , optimizing whole process.
This translates directly to interaction with women, to your work performance, to every new hobby you started doing. IF you start focusing on quality before you even finish your mental model , you are not going to be master. Hell I bet you will quit.
"The ceramics teacher announced on opening day that he was dividing the class into two groups. All those on the left side of the studio, he said, would be graded solely on the quantity of work they produced, all those on the right solely on its quality. His procedure was simple: on the final day of class he would bring in his bathroom scales and weigh the work of the "quantity" group: fifty pound of pots rated an "A", forty pounds a "B", and so on. Those being graded on "quality", however, needed to produce only one pot - albeit a perfect one - to get an "A". Well, came grading time and a curious fact emerged: the works of highest quality were all produced by the group being graded for quantity. It seems that while the "quantity" group was busily churning out piles of work - and learning from their mistakes - the "quality" group had sat theorizing about perfection, and in the end had little more to show for their efforts than grandiose theories and a pile of dead clay."
Quantity beats quality.
But quantity doesn't mean to just try.
You have to finish.
If you get a number from a girl, you are not finished before you call her, set up date/whatever , go out with her and finish the deal with either fuck or rejection on the way. Finish the cycle.
If you want to start lifting, you have to go to gym and finish your sets even if you are not able to do all reps.
Finish the one session.
Then you can analyze and adapt.
Then and only then. Not before.
TRP as concept is promoting quality.
Spend your time with people who are worth it. Invest in women who really deserves it.
Drop shitty friends, focus on your mission.
That is macro view. The strategy.
Then there is layer , where actually work gets done.
Micro , the tactics.
The quantity world.
I am open for discussion.
