In finance, in love, and in life, you should always put yourself first. In the following post I will define each of these, starting with finance, then love, then life in general.
"Pay yourself first" is a phrase popular in personal finance and retirement planning literature that means automatically routing your specified savings contribution from each paycheck at the time it is received. This means that before any bills are paid or any items are bought, you are putting away money in savings. This is very important, because our spending fluctuates with our budgets.
If you don't love yourself, no one else will. I mean, how can you expect someone to like you when you don't even like yourself? It is a contradiction. You need to look deep down and focus on what makes you special, what makes you unique, what makes you the prize. I'm sure there's something there.
Put yourself first. Don't be a nice guy. They get stepped on and no one has respect for them. It is the nice guy that finishes last and laments to the world when it was within his own power to finish first. Put yourself first. Don't go out of your way to help someone if it is going to detract from your own well-being.
Pay yourself first. Put money into savings, then see how much you have left over to spend. Love yourself first. Be proud of yourself, your accomplishments, and who you are. Put yourself first. Don't let people walk all over you. Instead, be the one who stands up for himself and his own needs.
