It seems that power dynamics are the biggest indicators of human behaviour regardless of gender. In the sexual realm smv is power. And we have learned the psycology and behaviour of representing this power (game)( increasing smv). You see beta behaviour communicates a loss of power to your mate. A relationship will be more stable when the power is close to equal between te two partners. If one is too beta the other loses attraction, if one is to alpha the other will cut their losses ( if they have self respect or are being risky by reaching for someone out of the league). We have learned that smv can change and it is this dynamic which make long term relationships especially difficult. I have seen this power play in nearly all relationships; of course males and females representing and volleying for power in different ways. There is also elements of decency, cultural motives and self preservation ( a women's need to hang on to resources from unattractive male) at play. Some people will build each other up (goes for mates as well as society at large) these are the true alphas, most will try to cut you down to their level. But still this is a constant battle with each other to determine proper compatibility, a awesome biological driver of reproduction. It reminds me of a lyric from the song hallelujah by Jeff Buckley: "The only thing I learned about love, is how to shoot someone who outdrew ya" so surround yourselves with people who aren't afraid to build you up, believe it or not they are the real competition and valuable women.
