For people who aren't really into rap or hip-hop, heavy metal can be really good for the soul, too. Not the poppy-metal, but the real stuff. The music is insanely energetic and motivating, and the lyrics can sometimes be really motivating, too (again, not the more poppy stuff which is super whiny and BP). Some Unearth, Within the Ruins, ABR, Wretched, Black Dahlia, stuff like that is great.
