Imagine CNN was having a big publicized debate on national marijuana legalization. On the pro Marijuana side they would have a stinky rosta looking stoner guy with a tie die shirt and dreads. The dude on the Anti side would be some clean cut chef of police.

Because debates especially national policy debates arnt about logic or arguments. The average person is too retarded to understand any of that shit. They just want to see two representatives of the issue and choose the one they have most in common with and like the most. Most people are herd animals they don't think.
Cassie Jay presented Anti Feminists as fat crying losers. It doesn't matter what they said or what logic they use. The film forces the association on Normies unfamiliar with the issue.
Furthermore the flaw in your analysis is the same flaw that continuously cockblocks this community. It doesn't matter what is being said only the context and the appearance of the person saying it.

CJ's the Red Pill was a joke. There was nothing Red Pill about the men she interviewed. Each of those men who sat on the couch to be interviewed were either too fat or too scared to get off that couch and truly go out into the world and make it as a man.
Those men were not red pill, they were screaming that the blue pill wasn't being fair to them. They fully rejected any sense of being responsible for themselves, instead they were crying that the system wasn't handing out to them as much as it handed out to others. They weren't rejecting the blue pill, they were clinging on for dear life while begging for it to pay them better since it was clearly fucking them so well; prostitutes everyone.
I abandoned all sympathy for those men when the one started talking about how he'd been shit on by his LTR who "tricked" him into getting her pregnant. She learned everything by reading the articles he was writing. He knew she was BP enough not to marry her, he knew what she'd do, but wouldn't kick her out because he didn't believe he could replace her pussy!
That movie reinforced one thing and one thing only: Be attractive; don't be unattractive.

Yeah that part seemed kind of weird to me. I guess that it was included because it illustrates how the system is stacked towards women re children. This was also brought up in her IamA, but he didn't title the doc after this subreddit - it was based on a post by Elam.

Oh fuck off. The Red Pill has been in common usage in the MR community since 2009. It used to sit proudly on AVFM's banner until you guys came along, formed this subreddit and Elam changed it to differentiate AVFM from YOU.
I don't like the confusion any more than you do, but you should at least get your history straight.
I agree with you that the title is unfortunate in that it does not reflect many of the beliefs in this subreddit but uses the same name. However it's still relevant and I am glad to get some perspectives from here. I did not get the impression that anyone was behind the creation of the doc other than Cassie, and I think she wanted the name because it was catchy and supported by one of her discussions with Elam in the doc. I think the fact that it's the same as this subreddit is somewhat of a coincidence.

I have not seen the documentary/film but it's done a splendid job of being a lighting-rod for Feminist-screeching and managed to actually entrench those utter planks even deeper into their Female-Supremacist ideology.
It's worth remembering that the grand Hive-Mind Group-Think behemoth that is collectively known as "Modern Liberal-thought" won't ever allow someone to switch-sides from being with them to against them whilst still retaining any modicum of prior credibility - see Laci Greene for a perfect example.

You are probably right, I will post it there instead. Thanks. I don't mean middle ground in the sense of compromise, I mean that both sides have some valid points and also have some crazy radicals who discredit the whole philosophy. Deciding what is true and what is bullshit is the hard part. I'm not saying they are equal either. It is very hard to quantify "equal" in this case.

I'm also curious who these Red Pill Radicals are. Hopefully I'm on the list because being a Red Pill moderate sounds super gay.
The truth of something isn't determined by what some barely sentient low brow peon thinks it is.
To be honest I'm not informed enough to name any radicals on either side. I made an assumption that there are some on both, maybe that is incorrect. I think there are probably a few fairly radical alt right personalities who identify with the MRA movement.

This is a discussion board, and I thought it would be interesting to discuss a doc that I just saw in a relevant community. I was hoping that some people more informed than me could offer their perspectives. I still think it's probably safe to say that there are radicals on both sides.

on the grand scheme of things Cassie did a amazing job, and has done for more for Men's rights issue than anyone here.
Is it perfect, no, but what is? Given the climate and hatred men face on a day to day basis , plus her giving up her career to support men, I would say she is the hero we need
I appreciate the enthusiasm but you're probably over-egging the pudding.
The film did little but shine a light on a fringe political issue, that remains fringe as we speak, and entrenched dickhead ideologues even further into their untenable political positions.

I doubt that she does in the grand scheme of things, at least in terms of knowledge and theory. But she has certainly managed to reach more people than I could. On top of that, her chipmunk cuteness is a major bonus in the mainstream, as people attacking her end up coming off as assholes.
She did a good job of highlighting the issues and opening a space for discussion. There are people who've found me through the movie, which is awesome.
I've never been one to be all "I should get more recognition! That person deserves it less than me!" There are people who were inspired by me or the HBR to start their own channels who have far outstripped us in terms of subscribers and views (often because they produce more content). That's okay. In fact, it's great. I know my value, and my ego is pretty healthy.
I'm happy to give Cassie her due. Given her original position (a feminist "what about the wimminzing" everywhere), what she's done is kind of amazing. And she was able to package it in a way that tugs on the sympathies of viewers. That's no small feat.
Is she as smart, knowledgeable or insightful as me? Nope. But she did pull off something awesome that has led people to people like me. So I can't exactly argue with the other guy's assertion.
