it's cool. saw some really hot israeli girls.

Great to do once, but not worth a repeat.

the trancestage made me long for next years ozora. Sadly, it is slowly changing too, in the same ways you describe that this party is. Last few years the dealers couldnt have their stalls anymore and are now forced to hide in their tents and vans. I guess its just the way of things when these type of events start to grow too much and want to commercialise.

Couple things- where would you suggest staying specifically to make it easier to hook up at the full moon? Any hotels walking distance?

How much would you spend on housing there?

Any thing else you want to add... Do you wind up hooking up more with travellers or locals?

By the way that neon bar you went to at the end is nicknamed "mushroom mountain" because they make strawberry smoothies with shrooms mixed in. The view of the sunrise is awesome from there, but don't waste your time when the full moon party and most of the chicks are down on the beach.

I've heard those full moon parties are way overrated, or maybe I'm just too old for them. I see it the same way I see clubbing: entertainment-consumption, yet some people call it "traveling", it's funny.

Chiang Mai is nice, much more "hippie" kind of vibe and the mountains around are worth getting around.

Good stuff, I'll hopefully be there on new years abd then off to Chiang mai as well to study. No, it's not 'real' Thailand, you're correct. Ko Chang is better I'd say for authenticity, as well as railay or ratchaburi, even a lot of Bangkok. I'm still looking forward to the party though, you can't beat it on new years i suppose. Any popular party scene these days is house music and bros, but hey it is what it is. Enjoy Chiang mai, if you're there in three months hit me up. Also, glad you've met a few thai girls. They're top notch as far as I'm concerned.
