I'm moving across the country to begin a new job and am trying to figure out the best apartment/housing situation specifically for bringing back girls.

Would you rather a nicer/bigger place in the suburbs (30-40 mins out of downtown) or a smaller place downtown? My current budget basically puts me at a bachelor/studio downtown, and a nicer 1 bdrm apartment/basement suite outside the city.
