Advice on how to differentiate between friendly male shit tests (shit talk) or harmful condescending shit tests?

I work in a corporate environment and see passive aggression a lot. It's just a feeling for me but I see it so much (sometimes personally, sometimes I'm just a witness) that its easy to decipher. If the underlying conversation is designed to make you look bad or expose you in a negative light in any way your spidey senses should be sounding the alarm.

If you're with friends just reply with a good old fashioned "Go fuck yourself", if your friend keeps digging you know it's not friendly and you will need to switch gears.
