Since I've learned Agree and Amplify, my life has improved a lot. When I'm out with the boys, we all seem to use A&A and can get into some pretty hilarious conversations -- works well on the ladies too, obviously. However, when I went back home for the holidays this past Christmas and used A&A, my folks seemed to take it as me "snapping" at them -- like I was being "tense" in their words.
Ex: Mom: You came home broke.
Me: True, all I'm worth is what I can provide, yeah? (slight smile on face)
Since then, I've noticed more odd situations with where I used it, people thought I was being aggressive or something.
Ex: Guy: Everyone said I fell asleep, but I didn't even close my eyes.
Me: Yep, you NEVER went to sleep at all.
The guy came up to me and apologized afterwards. I was baffled -- I was just kidding around with him -- but he took it as me being serious.
Am I doing something wrong here with A&A? Do people view it as "fake?" I've realized A&A can lead to great conversations but WTF is going on here? Should I curtail my use of it around "softer people"? Idk bro...
