Should I ever act the beta?

I am planning a lunch with someone who has obviously higher status than me. He is very famous in the field we work in, and I am not at all.

Should I let him pick the venue and/or schedule it to be near his home? Or should I suggest a place that is more convenient for me, as I believe an alpha would?

Here are my response options to an invitation to meet:

I'm free anytime. Let me know when and I'll be there. (very beta)

I can meet at 5pm on the 15th. How about [restaurant name] on [street] (more alpha)
