I have an intense fear of approaching strangers and speaking to them. The fear is worse when it involves talking to women, attractive or otherwise.

I was at a concert last week when I noticed a cute girl sitting in front of me. She was exactly my type and I extremely attractive. I forced myself to talk to her but I couldnt.

"This is it! I will talk to her!" I declared to myself several times. All i had to say was "I like that bag you have on" or "I like the buttons youre wearing".But everytime I came close to talking to her I was gripped by animal panic, would freeze and went back to my friends.

Im great at talking to people, but i for the life of me cant seem to open up conversations with complete strangers.

I am also unable to compliment people. I am unable to be the first to give a compliment I can return one if i am complemented first.
After working at it for a year I can now compliment what other men's attire but it still feels extremely unnatural.

How do I get over this? Ive watched every "approach anxiety" video online and none of them help. Should i see a psychiatrist? I have had therapy before but it didnt help for this particular problem.
