I have a life question I want to ask, it's bothering me and my family and I want to know how I can support and make the situation better. Sorry if its a bit of a read.
My grandma is in her late 80's and has been single for about a decade after her husband/my grandpa/my mom's dad died from liver cancer. He was EXTREMELY ALPHA, so my grandma has been an alpha widow since he died and it's been hard on her.
(also, if you want to know the nitty gritty, she literally cannot function without him. she's had like 4 boyfriends since he died just to fill that roll)
Anyway. For the past few years she's had pretty bad dementia. It's not horrible, we JUST moved her into an old persons home out of her own apartment, but she is having general old people dementia like forgetting stuff, not making sense, thinking people or things are alive but they died long ago, etc. Her dementia is really bad now. She calls my mom and tells her how depressed she is (grandma depressed, not my mom) because shes just so sad and lonely and bored. She is on two anti depressants.
Just recently, we were visiting at her place and found 2 knives, like sharp knives in her bathroom. We don't know how the fuck they got there or why they were there. She wasn't in the bathoom with them, they were just in the bathroom. No blood or anything, she seems normal now but what th efuck does this mean? I know her time has come as she's old and in pain, but would she, you know, take her own life? Is it dementia? Was it unintentional?
