Can't Focus in Lectures

I find myself doing the same in some lectures.

Part of the problem is the teacher, so I just stop going to these lectures and just learn on my own.

Also, being well rested helps. If you need other things such as sleep, food etc. , your brain will not be focused on that boring lecture when it feels that you are in survival mode.

Does your teacher provide the lecture slides online?

Print them out before class and physically write key points next to the appropriate slide during the lecture.

The real learning will still happen on your own time. But written down, the lecture will be in a format you can actually retain.

I learn nothing and daydream the whole class if I don’t take notes.

What I do is I sit in the front-middle of the class and keep writing, writing, writing. When you write you’re thinking of what to take down, when you’re thinking of what to take down you’re thinking of the lecture material. So not only do you come out of the lecture with a grasp of what is going on, you also have notes for you to read over after the class.

Sitting at the front of the stops you from going on your phone and getting distracted by other students in front of you

Write shit down. Take physical notes with a pen and paper. Even if you never look at them again the act of you writing ensures you're staying on topic and paying attention.

Taking notes, revising the topic, explain to someone else in your own words what was taught

Imo teaching it to someone else is the best way. It's filtered through your thought process rather than just repeating the lecturers words.

Maybe there's a subreddit on what you're learning and could answer some questions there?
