Hey asktrp, 2-year lurker here, had to make a new account because my old alt was shadowbanned for some reason. Just graduated with a degree in computer science from a decent university, but I've got little job experience and I'm looking to move into a more high SMV career path.

From where I'm at right now, the standard is to get a 6 figure software developer job in Silicon Valley, but I've grown a distaste of programming and of programmers in general, even though I consider myself to be talented in it. I'm also not fond of moving to Silicon Valley because programmers tend to be beta as fuck, and I'd rather much have friends who are quality people (I don't have much in common with any software engineer I've met). It's also difficult to move up the ladder, because programming has a ceiling that's quick to reach. Software engineering sure is a safe career path, but I also feel like it'll doom me to upper-middle class forever, and I've got bigger ambitions.

I'd rather much have a more social oriented career that rewards high SMV. While I'm not that great at sweet-talking, I want to get some field practice and get good at it as part of my career and lifestyle. Ideally I'd want a career that rewards social skills, connections, attractiveness, and professionalism so that it promotes a high SMV lifestyle, which I don't believe I can get from a software engineering position in Silicon Valley. Eventually down the line I'd imagine I'd want to start my own business. My plan right now is to aim for a top MBA program, but in order to do that I need at least 2 or 3 years of work experience.

I know that this isn't a typical route to take, but since when has trp been about following the norm? I'm willing to make sacrifices and take risks, and I believe it'll make me happier in the long run.

So what are the next steps I could take from here on out? If you guys have any suggestions as to career paths I could take from here, I'm all ears.
