In an effort to cure my oneitis I'm going to start improving myself, and exercise is key to this.

I'm 6'4", 35 years old and 195lbs. Lanky and slim build. I want bigger arms and a bigger upper body, I also want to lose the very small belly I've developed since I started eating more.

I have a few options of where I can concentrate and wanted some advice:

  1. I'm a week into EA Sports Active, a 9 week plan which combines cardio with resistance exercises, squats, planks etc and gets harder as you go through it. It's going well and I'm finding it fun on the whole. But I just read that it's for weight loss and general fitness, not for packing on muscle.

  2. I could do the 30 day, 100 push-ups challenge. I saw a video about it recently and the guys who did it got some visible results. Obviously when finished the aim is to get to a gym so I can start lifting heavier but with a good base strength from the push-ups.

  3. I could get straight down the gym even though I feel weak and out of shape. I wouldn't know where to start but could hire a personal trainer for a month or something.

There are so many options and for example with the EA sports one, I don't want to waste 9 weeks on a cardio fitness programme which may lose my belly but is 9 weeks where I could have been packing size onto my upper body through either push-ups or the gym.

Can someone with a bit of experience offer any advice for me?
