Are you referring to "monk mood"? No, TRP recommends to a man that just had something catastrophic to him caused by a female or some females (divorce rape, gf & wife chatting, etc).

Part of monk mood is not only figuring out yourself in how you act and react towards women, but how women act and react towards men. (not what she said, it's WHY she said it).

Monk mood also helps over come bad habits and addictions one needs to overcome. A lot of addictions are triggered by other people. From being away from other people for some time, one could regain strength.

Also helps to get on a track of doing something big (sign up for additional schooling, workout regimen, spiritual regimen, moving, etc)

So what does monk mode entail exactly? I fail to see how brooding on the past on your own will make you come out of your chrysalis. If anything, it will make it worse.

It's reflection. Also meditation for a few minutes a day is some type of monk mood. "life is lived forward but learned backwards"

If you're it reducing to simple reflection that's all good. But not 'take a year out of your life to isolate yourself'. Which is in the spirit of the original phrase?
