I know this isn't really the best subreddit for this question, and /r/pua might be better suited, but I trust trp more than any other subreddits.

My friends and I are hosting a birthday party next week with lots of people. We're all competing to see who can get with a girl first. We're a rowdy bunch and can get pretty crazy (especially if we're hosting). My best hookup results have always happened when I was playing it cool and have been approached by girls first. Whenever I "put myself out there" in my normal, extroverted, excited and probably too drunk self, I think I come across as desperate.

My question is - do I really need to play it cool and collected to score the girl? If not, how can I be "cool" while still meeting a bunch of new people and bring excitement/fun to the party?
