Hi, has anyone here ever compared themselves with their friends who had a better childhood/relationship with their parents than yourselves? And how does it make you feel?

I'm in the process of regularly improving/unplugging myself but whenever I'm with my best friend who had a better relationship with his parents, who is more grounded in himself and is more emotionally intelligent and sharper than me - I can't help but feel a sense of inadequacy and sometimes feel like shit. I mean, so far it's taken me 2 years to develop my self-confidence and -esteem and to be more socially and emotionally intelligent. But this guy - it's like he's already there...

Obviously we don't choose how we were brought up, we have to make do with what we have and improve ourselves thereafter as much as we can. And I know we shouldn't be comparing ourselves to others. But man, sometimes when I see how naturally good he is with women, etc and the fact that he has a more positive outlook on life than myself and is a more solid guy - it sometimes gets to me.

Has anyone here ever felt this way? How did you get rid of this mentality?
