Happened a few hours ago and writing this before I go to bed since it's still fresh.
Background: Sisters invited me out to an upscale lounge with a lingerie theme. Kid you not, smokes everywhere. Sister's told me they would be there at 10 so I worked late and got there at 9:30. I work in a suit so I didn't have to change or anything, rather be overdressed than under-dressed. Figured I would get there and see if I could do anything solo before they showed up.
I break the ice with a random girl while waiting online to get in. I'm near the front and a girl comes up asking to cut the line "because it's her birthday" right as I'm walking by to enter. I chime in before the bouncer responds and say "only if you tell us your age," smirk and walk in. Her response was positive--she smiled--but seemed at a loss for a response. (I should have followed up when I saw here later in the bar but never did).
First thing I did inside is ask the bouncer in the lobby where the bathroom is. After I freshened up a bit, I struck up a conversation with the bouncer. Asked general questions about the venue and built rapport with him. Was a cool dude. Told him I'd see him again and went on my way. (I would talk with him a few more times throughout the night whenever I went to the bathroom because that's where he was stationed).
I go to the bar to get a drink.
Interaction one: I approached the part of the bar with an attractive bartender. I order my drink. There is an older group next to me and commenting about some things and I chime in. Don't remember what was said but made small chat with a middle aged lady for a minute before they left.
After they left, I was just hanging out there alone so I struck up a conversation with the bartender. The conversation was casual but light with some banter (e.g., found out she moved into town from Miami and teased her about her having no friends because of that). I felt a good vibe from her. I let the conversation die at one point and turned my back to the bar and she came back and re-initiated. So we chatted a bit again. I felt the conversation was dying so at this point I said "hey before it gets too busy let me get your number and we'll grab a drink some time." She said sure.
Here's what I didn't like and may cause issue: I gave her my phone to put her number in. After she put in her number she went to go text herself from my phone so she had my number. Now I don't have really any sketchy stuff but I did send one friend a few messages about the hot girls at the venue and the last message I had sent was "smokes everywhere bro," which would appear on the screen when she would compose a message (iphone). Regardless, I called her out saying "what are you going through my text messages" with a smirk and that's when I found out her reason. Anyway, more people came and she wentto serve them so I left without saying goodbye or anything. I don't go back or see her for the rest of the night.
I plan to text this girl in a couple days to grab a drink Friday night or Sunday evening. She may flake because she might have been buttering me up for better tips. I only tipped her a dollar after I ordered my drink.
Interaction two: My sister's finally showed up at 11, an hour and a half after I got there. The end of the night for me was nearing, around 1, and a brunette in a tight blue dress catches my eye. I saw she was with two dudes and decided not to approach because I was unsure if one was a bf or not. I pointed her out to my sisters and they weren't impressed with her but also didn't think either was a bf.
They left me to go somewhere so I waited a few minutes before deciding to leave. I found them and said goodbye. On my way out I saw the brunette walk into the bathroom where the bouncer I befriended was stationed outside of. So I strike up a conversation and tell him the deal.
I told him there was a brunette that caught my eye inside that I just saw walk into the bathroom. So I told him I was gonna casually talk to him and then when she walks out grab her and get her number before I leave. He was cool with helping me out.
Before the brunette comes out, my sister's show up telling me there going too. So I'm chatting with my two sisters and the bouncers at this point. The brunette finally walks out and walks right by us. I catch up to her with a slightly hurried pace nothing crazy and say "excuse me I'm leaving but I think you're pretty and would like to get to know you. Can I have your number?" I cringed when the "can I have your number" came out.
The line has been successful in the past but I normally say "let me get your number" or "give me your number". I guess in this situation I felt less confident because I found her pretty attractive. I felt that she noticed it too. She responded with a thank you and "no" if I remember right.
So I asked "why? do you have a boyfriend" (pressure flip? I didn't like this response but it's the first thing that came out. I felt I got defensive after she said not really). She said "no I'm single." Keep in mind, up to this point she was walking away and I was following. I responded with"oh I guess I'm too intimidating" (another cringe worthy comment. I felt like I was trying to make up for the first with this one so I doubled up on my cockiness). Shockingly, after this comment, she stopped and turned around seemingly interested to engage with me. I then bailed and said "have a good night" and walked away. Fuck me right.
I feel that I bail too early because I'm not use to resistance from women. At a venue like this, I felt that all the women there knew they were hot and had their noses up in the air. Not gonna lie, was intimidated. Also, a bunch of other good looking dudes that I felt a lot of masculine energy from. Competition was fierce and it affected my confidence.
There were some other interactions I had with women throughout the night but won't detail them as this is already long enough.
Let me know your guys thoughts on this night in general and specifically interaction two. I know after this I have to work on my confidence when around other high value males (or so I think). Any advice on that?
An interesting tid bit: my sisters were surprised the brunette turned me down. They thought my SMV > the brunette's.
