I'll be joining college soon and I am certain that there will be the obligatory dance/party/mixer during orientation. I am not a good dancer at all, I have all the rhythm of an epileptic. My question is, what can one do in one of these events, in a dark room with loud music. I would imagine that it would be very creepy to walk up to a random person and ask them to talk outside but that is the only thing that comes to mind. Perhaps find a group of non-dancers and segue into a convo about it, going outside in the process?

I realize that I should just try to dance, rhythm aside, and be confident about it, but I know myself and I know I won't (I spent the last one playing sims on my phone in a corner - I know). In addition, even if I do, I'm more of a convo guy and would like an alternative should I decide I need a break.
