I'm kind of new to TRP. Just finished The Rational Male and am trying to hit the side bar as much as possible, but I need to re-read a lot to get all this info in my head. Honestly, I'm putting in the work to correct my thinking, but it's obviously not an overnight thing. So I'm wondering if you guys might be able to help me in my current situation. I'm worried I might have soft nexted incorrectly, and I'm wondering if I need to recover (if possible), or just keep going with it.

I have a somewhat long-term friend that kind of turned into a plate/MLTR. I know that's probably not the best scenario, but this was all pre-TRP. I've been slowly shifting things to my frame, and she's been going along, but will sometimes act out with shit tests and other games, probably because she's wondering where her beta friend went. I just go along or ignore and everything seems to be cool. If she gives me what I want (sex) she gets what she wants. I've also been plating other women.

Though this week she kind of pulled a strange one. She asked me if I wanted to look at a car with her this weekend that she might buy. I said I would, but to come over (i.e., we fuck before and/or after). She then acts like she jumped the gun and then says she had already committed her weekend to a friend. She's a notoriously bad texter/communicator so I thought it was possible something got lost in the texts. She wanted to talk on the phone, which I thought was a good idea to clear things up and initiate a different time to meet. We then end up playing phone tag where she eventually just leaves me hanging for a day. She then texts like all is cool and says "sorry she couldn't call". I asked what happened (because it was unlike her to go radio silent when she knows I was expecting a call). She says she had gone out to dinner with a friend. And proceeds to text me as if all is cool. Normally she would have at least texted me in the meantime, so I know she was trying to pull some BS, or soft next me in her own way. I just ignored her and thought this would be a good time to soft next.

She's been texting me in the meantime. I keep ignoring. And then finally she sends the, "did I do something to piss you off?" I haven't said anything to her, thinking that I need to keep the soft next going. But after reading around on here, I'm starting to think a soft next maybe wasn't the right move(?).

Am I committed for a couple more days of silence to keep the hamster wheel spinning? Or do I play it cool and just act like I was busy, and just say something like, 'let's catch up at my place'? It seems like the second option just gives her a free pass, so I'm leaning against it. I'm ready to hard next if I have to (even though we were friends), but she's one of the best fucks I've had so she's at least worth the time I took to write this post.
